Performance Comparison of Field-oriented Control, Direct Torque Control, and Model-predictive Control for SynRMs

Simulation studies of three synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) control strategies are presented: field-oriented (FOC), direct torque (DTC), and finite-set model-predictive (FS-MPC). FOC uses linear controllers pulse-width modulation to the fundamental components load voltages vectors. In contrast, DTC FS-MPC nonlinear wherein voltage vectors directly generated in absence a modulator. Theoretical operating principles structures these presented. Moreover, comparative analysis static dynamic performance is conducted using Matlab/Simulink identify their advantages limitations. It confirmed that each has merits all them satisfy requirements modern high-performance drives.
